Buick Y-Job Concept was a one-of-a-kind car that was designed and built by Harley Earl, the head of General Motors’ design department. The Y-Job was a radical departure from the traditional cars of the era, and it featured a number of innovative design elements, including a long, low profile, a wraparound windshield, and hidden headlights. The Y-Job was powered by a 3.0-liter inline-eight engine that produced 140 horsepower. The engine was mated to a three-speed manual transmission. The Y-Job could accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 10 seconds and had a top speed of 100 mph. Y-Job was never intended for production, but it served as a test bed for new design ideas. Many of the features that were first introduced on the Y-Job would later become standard on production cars, such as wraparound windshields and hidden headlights. Y-Job is considered to be one of the most important concept cars ever built. It helped to usher in a new era of automotive design, and it is still admired by car enthusiasts today.
