Chrysler Imperial Airflow is a full-size car that was produced by Chrysler from 1934 to 1937. It was the first American production car to use streamlining as a basis for building a sleeker automobile, one less susceptible to air resistance.
Airflow was designed by Carl Breer, who was inspired by the work of German aerodynamicist Edmund Rumpler. The Airflow had a number of innovative features, including a sloping nose, a rounded tail, and a covered rear wheel. It was also one of the first cars to use a unibody construction, which made it lighter and more rigid than traditional cars.
The Airflow was not an immediate success. The public was not ready for its radical design, and the car was also expensive. However, the Airflow did have a number of influential fans, including architect Frank Lloyd Wright and industrial designer Raymond Loewy.
Airflow was discontinued in 1937, but it is considered to be one of the most important cars of all time. It helped to pave the way for the modern aerodynamic car.
