Ford Falcon GT-HO Phase III is an Australian muscle car that was produced by Ford Australia in 1971. It was the third and final iteration of the GT-HO Phase III, and was built to homologate the car for racing in the Australian Touring Car Championship. The GT-HO Phase III was powered by a 351 cubic inch (5.8 liter) V8 engine that produced 300 horsepower and 320 pound-feet of torque. It was paired with a four-speed manual transmission and a 9-inch differential. The GT-HO Phase III could accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 6.9 seconds and had a top speed of 125 mph. GT-HO Phase III was distinguished from the standard Falcon GT by its aggressive bodywork, which included a front spoiler, bonnet scoop, and rear wing. It also had a unique suspension setup and larger brakes.
The GT-HO Phase III was a successful race car, winning the Australian Touring Car Championship in 1971 and 1972. It also won the Bathurst 1000 endurance race in 1971 and 1972.
Ford Falcon GT-HO Phase III is a highly sought-after collector’s car. In 2018, a GT-HO Phase III sold for a record price of $1.9 million.
