Ford Pilot is a British automobile that was manufactured by Ford United Kingdom (UK) from 1947 to 1951. It was the first all-new Ford car to be introduced in the UK since 1939. Pilot was a large family car, powered by a 3.6-litre Ford Sidevalve V8 engine. It was available in four-door saloon (sedan) and two-door tourer (convertible) body styles.
The Pilot was not a sales success, and was discontinued in 1951 after only four years in production. It was replaced by the Ford Zephyr Six and Consul models.
Ford Pilot was not a particularly innovative car, but it was a well-built and comfortable vehicle that offered good performance and value for money. It was also one of the first British cars to be fitted with hydraulic brakes. Today, the 1947 Ford Pilot is a rare and sought-after classic car. It is a reminder of a time when British car manufacturers were still producing some of the finest cars in the world.
