New York City Police Department (NYPD) has been using Harley-Davidson motorcycles since 1911. The first Harley-Davidson motorcycles used by the NYPD were the 61ci twins, which were powered by a 61 cubic inch (987 cc) V-twin engine. Over the years, the NYPD has used a variety of Harley-Davidson motorcycles, including the FLHTP Electra Glide Police, the FLHP Road King Police, and the FLHX Street Glide Police. The current model used by the NYPD is the 2023 Harley-Davidson Police Road Glide Special. Police Road Glide Special is a touring motorcycle that is designed for police patrol. It is powered by a 1,868cc Milwaukee-Eight 117 engine that produces 107 horsepower and 119 pound-feet of torque. The engine is mated to a six-speed Cruise Drive transmission. NYPD is one of the largest users of Harley-Davidson motorcycles in the world. The department has over 2,000 Harley-Davidson motorcycles in its fleet.
