Holden Torana A9X Race car was a highly successful Australian touring car that was built and raced by Holden Dealer Team (HDT) in the late 1970s and early 1980s. It was based on the production Holden Torana A9X hatchback, but was extensively modified for racing. A9X was powered by a 5.0-liter V8 engine that produced up to 600 horsepower. It was fitted with a four-speed manual transmission and a Salisbury rear axle. The A9X had a top speed of over 200 mph and could accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in under 5 seconds. The A9X was raced in the Australian Touring Car Championship (ATCC) from 1977 to 1981. It won the ATCC championship in 1979, 1980, and 1981. The A9X also won the Bathurst 1000 endurance race in 1977, 1978, and 1979. Holden A9X was one of the most successful touring cars in Australian history. It was driven by some of the best racing drivers in the world, including Peter Brock, Jim Richards, and Colin Bond. The A9X is a legend in Australian motorsport and is still revered by fans today.
