Lancia Lybra is a large family car produced by the Italian automaker Lancia from 1999 to 2005. It was available in saloon and estate body styles. The Lybra was designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro of Italdesign and was based on the Fiat Bravo/Brava platform. The Lybra was available with a range of petrol and diesel engines, including a 1.6-liter 103 hp, a 1.8-liter 115 hp, a 2.0-liter 130 hp, and a 2.4-liter 170 hp. Diesel engines included a 1.9-liter 105 hp and a 2.4-liter 130 hp. All engines were coupled to a five-speed manual transmission, with the exception of the 2.0-liter petrol engine, which could also be ordered with a four-speed automatic transmission. Lybra was well-received by the motoring press, with praise for its handling, ride, and interior space. However, it was not a commercial success, with sales falling short of expectations. This was due to a number of factors, including the high price of the car, the strong competition in the large family car segment, and the declining popularity of the Lancia brand.
Lybra was discontinued in 2005 without a replacement. It was the last car to be produced by Lancia under its own name. The company was subsequently merged with Fiat to form Fiat Chrysler Automobiles.
The Lancia Lybra Wagon 1999 is a comfortable and spacious car with good handling and ride. It is powered by a range of efficient engines and is well-equipped with features. However, it is not a particularly exciting car to drive and it is no longer in production.
