Maserati Indy is a four-seater grand tourer produced by Italian automaker Maserati from 1969 to 1975. It was the first car produced by Maserati under Citroën ownership. The Indy was designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro of Ghia, and it was named in honor of Maserati’s two victories at the Indianapolis 500 in 1939 and 1940. The Indy was powered by a 4.2-liter V8 engine that produced 260 horsepower and 291 pound-feet of torque. The engine was mated to a five-speed manual transmission. The Indy could accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 7.5 seconds and had a top speed of 140 mph.
Maserati Indy was a popular choice for celebrities and wealthy individuals. It was also used by the Italian police and the Italian military.
The Indy was discontinued in 1975 due to the 1973 oil crisis and the financial problems of Citroën. A total of 1,106 Indys were produced.
