Panzerkampfwagen VI Ausf. B, also known as the Tiger II or Königstiger, was a German heavy tank of World War II. It was the successor to the Tiger I, and it was the heaviest tank to see combat in World War II. Tiger II was developed in response to the Soviet T-34 and KV-1 tanks, which were outgunning and outnumbering the Tiger I. The Tiger II was designed to be better armored and armed than the Tiger I, and it was also equipped with a more powerful engine. The Tiger II was first used in combat in Normandy in 1944. It proved to be a very effective tank, and it was able to knock out Allied tanks with ease. However, the Tiger II was also very expensive and time-consuming to produce, and it was only produced in small numbers. Tiger II was used in combat on the Western and Eastern Fronts. It was particularly effective in the Ardennes Offensive, where it was able to spearhead the German advance. However, the Tiger II was also vulnerable to Allied air power, and it was often destroyed by Allied fighter-bombers. Tiger II was the last heavy tank to be produced by Germany in World War II. It was a very effective tank, but it was too expensive and time-consuming to produce to have a significant impact on the war.
