ZIS-115 is a Soviet-built, armored version of the ZIS-110 limousine, designed and built especially for Joseph Stalin. 32 of the cars were manufactured between 1948 and 1949. The heavily armored car’s design was based on the American 1942 Packard Super Eight. The ZIS-115 was powered by a 6.0-liter V8 engine that produced 160 horsepower. The car had a top speed of 100 kilometers per hour (62 miles per hour) and a range of 500 kilometers (310 miles).
The ZIS-115 was 6.0 meters (19.7 feet) long and 1.96 meters (6.4 feet) wide. It weighed 5.3 tons (5.8 short tons).
ZIS-115 was a significant car in Soviet history. It was the first Soviet-built armored car and it was used by some of the most powerful men in the Soviet Union. The ZIS-115 is a reminder of the Cold War era and the importance of security for high-ranking officials.
